JK Ladli Beti Scheme: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir is a social welfare scheme for infant girl child born after 01 April 2015. There is a high rate of girl child declining in the state of Jammu and Kashmir & Ladakh. The scheme aims to address the declining girl child ratio, and reduce the financial burdens on parents. This scheme comes up with two phase hybrid deposit plan. First; a recurring deposit for 14 years having a date of completion as one month after the last installment recieved in the account. The second phase is; a cumulative deposit (CCR) for 7 years. For Phase 1, the Government of J& contributes ₹1000 monthly, and the parents income must be less than ₹75,000. Benefits of JK Ladli Beti Yojana:-
- A recurring deposit account under the scheme is opened by the natural or legal guardian of the girl child.
- The J&K Government contributes ₹1,000 per month from the birth of the girl child or the account opening date for 14 years, totaling ₹1,68,000.
- No additional credits, other than the government contribution, are allowed in Phase I (Recurring Deposit Account).
- After the maturity of Phase I, the account transitions to Phase II, a Cumulative Term Deposit Account.
- No partial withdrawals or foreclosure are permitted during any phase of the scheme.
- Maturity benefits are paid to the beneficiary upon reaching 21 years of age or 21 years after the first installment, or 85 months after the last installment, whichever is later.
- The maturity amount is credited to the beneficiary’s savings bank account, with the option to reinvest at prevailing rates.
- Nomination facility is not applicable.
- In case of the beneficiary’s death, the account is closed immediately, and the balance with interest reverts to the Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh.
- If the beneficiary dies before 21 years, the account is close prematurely without pre-payment charges.
- Accounts are non-transferable even if the beneficiary relocates.
- A life certificate of the beneficiary, certified by a gazetted officer or school/college principal, must be provided to the bank every three years and at maturity.
- TDS is not deduct if the guardian or beneficiary submits Form 15G/15H annually and has a valid PAN.

How to Apply Online for JK Ladli Beti Scheme:-
The following steps will help applicants to apply online for JK Ladli Beti Yojana without any hassle. Follow the steps for your convenience;
- Login to www.jansugam.jk.gov.in or www.eunnat.jk.gov.in after registering on the Service Plus Portal and creating login credentials.
- Click “Apply for Services” on the left side of the screen and search for “Application for obtaining financial assistance under Ladli Beti Scheme”.
- Upload the mandatory documents and click “SUBMIT” to complete the application process.
- Download the Acknowledgement for record and reference. Track the status of your application at various levels and provide feedback through the Rapid Assessment System (RAS).
- The Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) will review the application. If there are deficiencies, they may reject or revert the application with recorded reasons. If complete, it will be forward to the District Programme Officer (DPO) within 15 days.
